I believe we heal in relationships where we feel fully seen and accepted, and where we can experience ourselves in broader, deeper, and more integrated ways. I work with people with experiences of marginalization in either society (race, gender, class, and ethnicity) or in their families (neglect, abandonment, abuse). I believe that exclusion and oppression have an insidious and long lasting effect in self esteem, self confidence, agency, and trust in relationships. Harmful effects frequently manifest in feelings of fear, shame, guilt, grief, invisibility, not being good enough, being less than, and not belonging.
