I strive to be creative in designing a safe, empathetic environment where every individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. My areas of specialty include working with trauma, PTSD, substance use, and co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use issues presenting at the same time). I also enjoy working with depression, anxiety disorders, life changes and stages, mood disorders, and the LGBTQ population. I believe it is vital to weave a unique treatment approach for each client, and I use an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating DBT, CBT and MI tools, among others. What I like to call “the gray area” is my favorite place to engage in meaningful work – a place where there are no “shoulds” and we allow the brain to do whatever it needs.
