Most of us do not escape life without some degree of suffering. Whatever the cause of our suffering, seeking help at a time we feel most vulnerable can be scary and uncomfortable. It takes courage to open oneself to feelings of vulnerability and fear in order to grow. I have immense respect for anyone who seeks professional help in the face of this discomfort. A state of curiosity and self-compassion about one's suffering can lead to increased self-awareness and receptivity to learning and growing through any challenge.
