About
The external world can be overwhelming. We are constantly inundated with relentless waves of more – more information, more stimulation, more choices. We may think we’re managing it all but inside we can feel flooded. We may experience feelings of anxiety or depression as we struggle to navigate an increasingly disorienting internal world. But there are alternatives. Pause for a moment. Imagine being able to slow down, breathe, and intentionally direct your attention. Imagine feeling confident in your internal compass to guide you in the external world. I use Hakomi Therapy, a body-based mindfulness approach, to help build the skills to traverse the internal and external worlds. Evidence-based research supports the efficacy of including the mind and the body in therapeutic work. The body is a resource for grounding while also providing access to informative emotions and facilitating trauma resolution.
