I believe the first step in therapy is to create room for ALL of our thoughts and feelings and work to develop a new network of insights and behaviors that allow us to be more present, more aware and to live more fully. However we also know that so many life stressors and challenges get in the way and contribute to our struggling relationships, compulsive behaviors, addictions, feelings of hopelessness, incessant worries or past traumas that weighs us down. Holding space for ourselves and our feelings and emotions will help us to navigate these challenges easier and will allow our more authentic and best selves to emerge.
