From my earliest teens, people have "talked" to me. Sometimes the things they shared were overwhelming to a young person, so I knew I needed training to help others and to handle the intense material myself. In my own life, I struggled with anxiety and depression, and I empathize with those who suffer from it. Finding a path through it increased my dedication to helping others. The methods can be as gentle as meditation or as intense as EMDR. Anxiety, Depression and PTSD typically give way when directly addressed with these therapies, allowing a rapid resolution of emotional discomfort. The goal, after all, is to heal.
